Two treasures in Milwaukee

Last Saturday was the first anniversary of my dear sweet mothers passing.

Realizing I might be needing a little cheering up, my "fun fairy" friend Karen took me to a couple of really fun shops in Milwaukee!

Our first stop is every chocolate lovers dream! "ENCHANTE'" "enchanting little things" at 10883 SE Main Street Milwaukee Oregon

Everything was pink, red and glitter, sparkling and ready for Valentine's Day! It is the ultimate candy store and more!

Three doors down is her sisters shop "K marie" an incredible paper store full of inspiration, glitter, gifts, glam and pure fun! They even teach classes in their back room! Check out her blog at kmarielovesglitter.blogspot.com

As we left the shop, my head was swimming with ideas, excited to sign up for a class, something that hasn't happened since my mother passed away.

I was reminded of one of my favorite quotes " a friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words"

A New Place to Visit in Astoria

There is a new kid in town, Marie Antoinette's Cupcakes in the Banker's Suite!

Check out their websites:

My girlfriend Karen and I stumbled upon  this magical place in Astoria 1215 Duane Street.  It's more than a cupcake shop, there is whimsy at every turn, the care and detail that was taken to restore this wonderful old bank building is truly a work of art, not to mention the best cupcakes in the Northwest!
I had to try the "Marie Antoinette" cupcake of course with a cardamon latte that was laced with fresh orange peel!  I thought I had died and gone to heaven!  And these two angels were coming up with all sorts of treats to serve us!

What is a girl to do? Two words...TAKE OUT!  Even the take out boxes are adorable!  I'll take one of each please!

If you get the chance, ask to see the upstairs, it is truly a "Mackenzie Childs" museum! We spent two hours drooling over the amazing art and furnishings!
Art and More Art! I Love it!
I think one of these little cuties needs to come home with me!

Even the bathrooms were amazing!  I must say I don't think I've ever taken so many pictures in a bathroom before!  These are just a sample!
Did I mention there was ART      EVERYWHERE?

This place is truly worth the drive from Portland, it is a "destination" girlfriend trip...I give it a FIVE star!  Don't miss this gem of an adventure, there is nothing like it in Oregon!  I guarantee you will leave with a happy heart!  Rumor has it that after the last Sunday Market in Astoria in October, they will serve a high tea on Sundays!  I'm counting the days!

Ta Ta and remember girls..."Pinkies Up" and "Eat Cake"!
